User Management

6min

A user is a person who has a login for Velocity. A user might be an employee of your company, or an independent sales rep.

You can manage your users on the settings page.

The "Manage Users" page, with a list of users below

Adding users

To add a new user, navigate to the users page and select Add user. There are two options: Create new user and Send an invitation.

Create a user

This option will immediately create a new user with the given email and password.

Use this option when you want to create a new email/password login. It's recommended that you create a unique login for each person in your organization. You can select a user's roles here, which control the level of access the user has to Velocity's features.

Send an invitation

This option will send a signup link to the given email address. Use this option if your organization uses single sign-on (SSO) to log into Velocity, or the person you are inviting already has a Velocity account with another organization.

When sending an invitation, the Login type dropdown determines how the new user will sign into Velocity (e.g. SSO or email/password). You can also select the new user's roles when using this option.

Note: When you choose this option, you will need to set the person's access to customers, reps, and products after they have logged in for the first time.

Managing users

Revoking access

When a user is deactivated, they will be unable to access Velocity.

You can deactivate a user from the users list by selecting the button next to a user and choosing Deactivate user. Alternatively, from the "User Details" tab, select Deactivate.

User roles

A user's roles determine which types of resources they have access to in Velocity, and what actions they can take (e.g. create, view, edit, delete).

You may adjust a user's access to Velocity by reassigning roles on the user details page. Select a user from the users list, then choose the Roles tab.

To create new roles, please contact customer support.

Managing authorization

Some users should only be able to see a subset of records in Velocity. For example, you may want a sales rep to only see the customers they are responsible for.

You can assign a user visibility to specific customers, reps, and products on the user details page. To learn more about this feature, see Access Control.
