Creating Territories

Once you've reached the Map display, you should first build your map's hierarchy. To start, select the top level from the "Levels" list. Afterward, click on the "+" to the right of your top level's name. From there, you'll be met with a modal where you can enter your desired Rep's name. Once done, click "Add Rep". Repeat this process for each Rep and level that you want on your Map.

Once you've built the Map's hierarchy, you can now start assigning Territories. There are three different ways to select a Territory, you can...

  • Click on the state to select the entire state.
  • Hold down shift on your keyboard and draw a box to select zip codes.
  • Click on the zip codes within each state.

To assign a Rep to your selected Territory, click on the "Assign" button in the top right. Doing so will present you with a modal that lets you choose which rep to assign. After deciding which Rep you want to assign to your selection, click on "Assign" to confirm. Once done, you will then see the Rep's name displayed over your selected Territory.

A rep must be added to the Map's hierarchy before they can be assigned to a Territory.

To reassign a Rep to a Territory, you can select the Territory you wish to be reassigned and simply follow the steps listed above to re-assign a Territory. To unassign a Territory, select the desired Territory and click on "Unassign".

To finalize your Map, click on "Publish" in the top right of the page. This will redirect you back to the Territory Details and will show you the Territory Alignment's Hierarchy that you just built.

Searching for Territories

An alternative way to select territories that you will assign to Reps is by using the Search function built into the page. To locate the search bar, direct your attention to the top left-hand side of the page and click on "Search". Doing so will bring a popup where you can search for the following:

  • Postal Code
  • City
  • State
  • Sales rep

Searching by Sales Rep will select the territory assigned to the Rep you searched for.

Finalizing your search will then automatically select the area that you searched for. After doing this, you can then assign the selected territory to a Rep.

Editing Territories

For every Territory, there are two Maps. One is a live version of the map that has been uploaded to Velocity and is currently being used for that Territory Alignment's Hierarchy. The other is an editable version of that same Map and is used to replace the live version after editing.

There can only be one copy of an editable Map at a time. This means that if a User is making edits to that Territory Alignment, other Users can only edit that same copy and cannot edit a separate copy (similar to a Google Docs workflow).

You can tell if a Map is currently being edited by a User from the Territory Details screen under Territories on the left-hand side of the page.

There are two messages displayed if a Map is currently being edited:

  • What time the Map was last edited and which User last made edits.
  • How long until that version of the editable Map expires.

To reset the editable Map back to its original state before any edits were made, click on "Reset Assignment Edits".
