Manage Sales Teams

A Sales Team is a hierarchy of reps that earns commission together, optionally tied to geographic territories. Sales Teams live under Commission > Sales Teams in the navigation.

Sales Teams List

The Sales Teams page shows every Sales Team in your tenant. Select any team to open its detail page, or select New Sales Team to create one.

Create a Sales Team

Select New Sales Team from the Sales Teams page. You'll be prompted for the team's name and the names of its levels (for example, Sales Manager, Regional Manager, Sales Rep). The levels you set here become the rungs of the team's hierarchy.

After creation, the team appears in the list. Select it to open its detail page and start building the hierarchy.

Sales Team Detail Page

The detail page is where you manage everything about a single Sales Team. The left sidebar contains two sections:

  • Hierarchy: the active view by default. Shows the team's reps grouped by level, with each rep displayed by their identifier chip and name. Expand any rep to see their direct reports.

  • Territories: actions for managing the team's territory assignments. Shows when the assignments were last edited.

Use the Actions menu in the top-right of the page to rename or delete the Sales Team.

Territory Assignments

Territories link a Sales Team's hierarchy to geographic regions, so commission can be attributed based on where an order ships or bills.

From the Territories section of the Sales Team detail page, select Resume Assignment Edits to open the territory editor. The editor shows a map of the United States and lets you assign zip codes, cities, or whole states to reps on the team.

Assigning Territories

Before you can assign a territory, the reps you want to assign must already exist in the team's hierarchy. In the editor, there are three ways to select an area:

  • Click a state to select the entire state

  • Hold Shift and drag to select a group of zip codes

  • Click individual zip codes within a state

With an area selected, select Assign in the top right and choose the rep to assign it to. Their name will display over the selected territory.

A rep must be in the Sales Team's hierarchy before they can be assigned a territory.

To reassign an existing territory, select it and run through the same flow. To remove an assignment, select the territory and choose Unassign.

When you're done, select Publish in the top right to save your changes to the live map. Until you publish, your edits exist as a draft that other team members can also work on.

Searching for Territories

The editor includes a search bar in the top-left for jumping to a specific area. You can search by:

  • Postal code

  • City

  • State

  • Sales rep

Searching by sales rep selects the territory currently assigned to that rep.

Draft and Live Maps

Each Sales Team has two maps: the live map currently used for commission attribution, and an editable draft that's used for in-progress changes. Only one draft can exist at a time, so multiple users editing the same Sales Team work on the same draft (similar to a Google Docs workflow).

The Territories section of the detail page shows when the draft was last edited and by whom, plus how long the draft has before it expires. To discard the draft and start over, select Reset Assignment Edits.
